The Golden Globe winning movie Avatar captured not only the hearts of moviegoers around the world but also their spirit on a very deep and personal level.
It has been reported elsewhere that James Cameron spent over $300 million on the film Avatar to bring the very same idea forward that John Lamb Lash presents in this 60 minute interview in an Amsterdam Hotel. Sorry folks, the expensive special effects and 3D are not here, but the big idea is. It is called Gnosis.
Sacred Mysteries delivers once again in a most spectacular way. They are tapping into the spirit of the times, or the zeitgeist. More and more publications and films are expressing the notion of Gaia, or the concept that the Earth and even our local cosmic neighbourhood is a living entity in total.
John Lamb Lash is the man to see about the Gaia/Sophia mythology and creation story. He is an American author and scholar in comparative mythology. He terms himself a metahistorian.
He is author of a number of books including The Seeker’s Handbook: The Complete Guide to Spiritual Pathfinding, and Not in His Image. His work focuses on Gnosticism and the myth of Sophia.
In this DVD Lash reinforces the ideas he expressed in Not In His Image. Without spoiling the content, I can say quite clearly that he turns mainstream religious ideas on their head. That includes all Patriarchal, monotheistic, and Salvationist religious streams.
If you still adhere to any mainstream religion, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, or any religious orders that espouse a priesthood after the Order of Melchizedek, you will definitely be seriously offended. Open mindedness is a big plus here when viewing this DVD.
If you are one of the rare people who come to this DVD with a clear, unencumbered mind, you may have it working overtime while absorbing the information on this programme. You will be exposed to the nature of “mechanisation man,” the false humans and the envious world of the Archons. In late antiquity, the term archon was used in Gnosticism to refer to servants of the Demiurge, the ‘creator god’ that prevented the human race apprehending a transcendent God that could only be reached through Gnosis.
In Lash’s Gnostic mythology, these creatures are responsible for all manner of false creation in the world. They want what humans have; in fact, they want to be human. Hence, they imitate with technology that which mimics real life. Witness computer gaming, the biological cloning of animals and perhaps people, the military/industrial complexes, pornography (which mimics real love and sexuality) as well as the manipulative use of advertising and mass communication.
Lash uses ancient Gnostic sources (such as the Nag Hammadi texts) to elucidate the Gnostic world, its mythology and creation story. I have to say it was a quite scary in parts. His arguments are compelling. The film is so thought provoking that I needed to watch it several times to reassure myself that I had gotten the message correctly.
It is not all bad news. There is a new mood in the world that is more inclusive of all creation. Gnostics and Pagans are the current example, but more and more people are accepting that our universe is an aware creation of the goddess Sophia. Sophia is known by many names, about which you will learn from watching this film.
The production values in the film are of a high quality, with John Lamb Lash talking in his hotel room, along with beautiful sweeping universal images and fractals. It is a pleasant film to watch, with disturbing content for those not used to Gnostic concepts.
This is truly a work to severely shake-up your firmly held beliefs. You may reject Mr Lash’s Gnostic philosophy, his creation story and his views of the contemporary world. Reject it if you must, but it will continue to make you think long after the film is over.
I do recommend this film as the real thing.
