Dr. Quantum Presents Do-It-Yourself Time Travel

Dr. Quantum has returned! Everyone’s favourite white-haired science super-hero is back to challenge your perceptions, help you break boundaries and let you in on the secrets of the universe!
In this series, over 6 CDs, Dr. Quantum (Dr. Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D) deconstructs the notion of Western time and helps the listener achieve Time Travel.
Each CD contains one self-contained learning session, and be warned, these six sessions are not exactly easy.
As Dr. Quantum continually stresses, the ways most of us comprehend time is very strict, very rigid, and therefore, not pliable enough to have much fun with. And Dr. Quantum is all about fun, and in order for us to have fun, we must be informed and confident in our approaches towards this subject.
Over the first two sessions, Dr. Quantum takes us over our collective history of time travel and perceptions of time. He gives examples of Time Travel and Time Bending in relation to ancient creation myths, particularly the Hindu creator God Vishnu. Universes are born, grow and die in a single inhalation and exhalation of Vishnu’s breath.
The Aboriginal Australian’s ‘Dream Time’ is also explored with respect and reverence.
These ancient examples are a good way to try and bend your mind around our conceptions of time, and Dr. Quantum uses them to paint a layman’s picture about the theory of relativity.
Time, of course, is different for every living being, not only on this planet but every other planet and every other part of space. If one were to zoom out from this planet, zoom out from this universe and come face to face with Vishnu as he breaths in and breaths out, one could understand that yes, millions, perhaps billions of years of time can be perceived to pass in the time that he breaths in and out. Not that that really matters to Vishnu of course. All he’s doing is breathing.
In Session 2, Dr. Quantum introduces us to the ‘Five Fluctuations’ of existence that work to hold us back from unlocking the concept of time travel.
The First Fluctuation is what is known as ‘Valid Knowledge’. This is basically how it reads, which means the knowledge we come to through our faculties of thought, reasoning and understanding. ‘A banana appears to be yellow’, is an example of Valid Knowledge.
The second fluctuation is Invalid Knowledge. This is knowledge that doesn’t come to us by valid means. Examples of this are our capacity to imagine things, not only bad, but good things. Prejudice, comedy, parody and illusions of romance, among many other things, can be held as examples of invalid knowledge.
The third plays on the second and relates to our hang ups about language and how it limits human thought. Basically, words without meaning or substance, exaggerations, myths, legends, narratives etc.
The fourth is the state of mind one reaches when they are sleeping without dreaming. Your mind is shut off, as is your consciousness. This may seem like the preferred state of mind in order to understand new concepts and break through boundaries, but your energy is also switched off, and one must maintain a level of awareness to conceive anything. As Dr. Quantum says, ‘Time Travel is virtually impossible using your mind.’
The fifth Fluctuation are our memories. The things we remember are always lurking just behind our eyes and distract us any chance they get. To gain control over your mind is gaining the ability to not notice your memories and to not let them take over.
These five fluctuations hold us back from Mind-based Time Travel, as we must give up our egos in order to gain a ‘floating mind’ state and traverse the time line of existence.
Dr. Quantum’s ‘Floating Mind Exercise’ is particularly helpful in attaining these qualities. A simple meditation exercise, which one can do anywhere, and it helps free us from the idea of our physical prisons.
One must quiet their mind and simply tell themselves that they ‘are not their bodies’. If one comes to understand the power of this statement, they come to understand that our bodies get us into a lot of crap situations, as well as good ones, but really, our physicality is only a tiny aspect of our overall existence.
In Session 3 and 4, Dr. Quantum delves into the hard science of reality and time. He explores Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and the idea that for light there is no time, as it is basically everywhere all at once.
He then goes into the ideas of black holes and wormholes, and while it is fascinating subject matter, one must go over these sessions at least twice just to get on top of the wealth of information.
Sessions 5 & 6 and Dr. Quantum knocks it up a notch. He explains the ideas of possibilities, probabilities and psychological understanding of space time.
A prime example of our psychological understanding of time can be seen in your dreams. Everyone has had a dream where they have been woken up in the middle or end by a noise or a sensation tied to our physical bodies. If you get woken up by a door slamming in the house or next door or just barely heard down the street, your dream anticipates this before it has even happened and sets up a narrative around it. This idea gets one thinking healthily about how our minds perceive time.
As Dr. Quantum gets into probability curves and possibility waves, this reviewer has no regret in saying that it went completely over his head. As stated before, this learning course is not simple and as learning should be, it is a challenge and quite exciting.
By the time the 6th session rolls around with Dr. Quantum teaching us how to deconstruct our egos, this reviewer’s head was literally swimming (possibly drowning somewhat), in the ideas and concepts unveiled.
This course is not for the faint hearted and is recommended to be tackled over a month or two, perhaps going back and forth with the sessions just to let everything in. In order to help you get over your conceptions of time, going back and forth, repeating and reinterpreting some of the sessions may prove to be very helpful.
Fans of Wolf will love this massive, heady, frothy and deep hit of Dr. Quantum. For anyone interested in the idea of Time and Time Travel, this set may seem formidable, but as the reviewer has already said, Dr. Quantum is all about fun!
Do not be afraid, it’s only time after all…
